Six Flags to add seat belts to roller coasters after Georgia rider’s death

Six Flags Entertainment Corporation has announced it will install seat belts on several roller coasters following a fatal incident at Six Flags Over Georgia. On October 12, 42-year-old Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem was killed after being ejected from the Goliath roller coaster, which previously utilized a lap-restraint system. In addition to Goliath, the company plans to retrofit other coasters that use similar restraint systems across its parks in the U.S. and Canada. Investigations by state and local authorities remain ongoing while eight other similar rides stay temporarily closed.
