Candidate named Hitler Mussolini wins Peru mayoral vote

Hitler Mussolini Simeon Flores, a 45-year-old candidate for the centre-left Ahora Nación party, has won the mayoral election in Queropalca, a remote district in the Peruvian Andes. According to data from Peru's election office, he received approximately 34% of the vote (229 votes), defeating a candidate from the Renovación Popular Perú party by a margin of 25 votes. Despite the district's small population of fewer than 1,000 residents, the candidate has garnered international media attention due to his forenames being the same as those of 20th-century European dictators Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini.
